Update- Phased return of pupils

12th Mar 2021

Following the latest announcement by the Executive, I wish to update parents on the new arrangements for P1–P3 classes.

I can confirm that:

Primary school pupils in P1-P3 will continue to be provided full-time face-to-face teaching until the school's planned Easter holidays.

St. Mary's will no longer be required to provide remote learning for the week commencing 22nd March 2021 for Primary 1-3.

In Peter Weir's correspondence with schools today, he states:

"The Executive continue to prioritise education in their decision making, and I remain convinced that schools are the best place for children, and face-to-face teaching is the best way of learning for children and young people. That is why I will be pressing the Executive next Tuesday for a further relaxation of restrictions and seeking the return of all pupils including P4–P7 and Years 8–11, or confirmation of a timescale when we can expect a return for these years ".

We will update parents of Primary 4-7 children next week, as soon as the Executive have met and issue any further information.

Kind Regards,

Louise Quinn
