This week Primary 2 have been learning all about subtraction within 10. The Primary Two children have been learning all the different language used for subtraction and the symbol used for subtraction. Today the children participated in a Subtraction Carousel. Miss Kelly had five different activities arranged and the children were all given an opportunity to take part at each station.
Zone 1: Subtraction Squash, here the children worked in pairs using playdough and a tens square. They had to squash some of the pieces of playdough and write the number sentence below.
Zone 2: Hungry Monster Subtraction, primary twos had to feed the monster some cakes and workout how many cakes were left over and then record it.
Zone 3: Loose Tooth Subtraction, the children were tasked with colouring in some of the characters 10 teeth and write a number sentence to show how many teeth were left.
Zone 4: Basketball Subtraction, at this zone the children had to match the subtraction hoop with the correct basketball.
Zone 5: Bowling Subtraction, at this staton the children had to knock over some cartons and record how many had fallen down.
