Primary 5 Loved their 'Impact' topic!
29th Apr 2026
Primary 5 absolutely loved their Term 2 topic Impact, which was all about the Amazon rainforest.
The children took part in a wide range of activities including:
- Developing mapwork skills by identifying where rainforests are located around the world.
- Exploring data on rainforest climates.
- Using their sense of smell to investigate mystery substances linked to rainforest plants.
- Science Investigations - testing materials and deciding which would be most suitable for building a rainforest home.
- Making rainforest animal food chains.
- Comparing modern life and the life of someone from a rainforest tribe.
- Art lessons - using oil pastels to design their favourite rainforest animals and creating rainforest-themed digital images using the Baazart app.
- Literacy work included rainforest poetry, rainforest animal reports, and persuasive letters encouraging others to stop deforestation.
- A fantastic ‘Rainforest in a Shoebox’ project, showcasing pupils’ learning and creativity.
