Primary 3 make Bird Cakes
This week, with the beautiful snowfall on Monday, our Primary 3 children have been diving into their World Around Us topic: Animals in Winter. We discovered that during the colder months, birds can find it hard to get enough food – so we decided to help!
The children rolled up their sleeves and created bird cakes packed with energy to keep our feathered friends healthy and happy. Using a mix of bird seed, lard, dried mealworms, and bread, they carefully followed step-by-step instructions to make these tasty treats.
This hands-on activity not only supported their science learning but also linked perfectly to our literacy focus on instructional writing this term.
We’re so proud of their teamwork, creativity, and care for nature – and we can’t wait to see the birds enjoying their winter feast!
