Primary 7 enjoyed a very special day in Killeeshil Community Centre on Tuesday, where they spent time on retreat with NET Ministries. The pupils had a chance to pause, reflect and learn together as they prepared for their upcoming Confirmation.
That evening, they joined in the Ceremony of Light, a lovely celebration that marks the passing on of faith from one generation to the next. The Confirmandi made their promises, and their parents also pledged to support them through prayer, encouragement, and by setting a positive example. The prayers focused on the Gifts and Fruits of the Holy Spirit and how these can guide us through our teenage years, helping the children make wise and loving choices.
The children then made their Confirmation pledge, promising not to drink alcohol until they turn 18 and to remain drug free throughout their lives.
We were all so proud of how thoughtfully they took part, and especially of how beautifully they sang. They were accompanied by Wayne Golden, with Meg preparing and conducting them on the night.
We are also very grateful to Mr Morrow for the time and care he dedicated in helping prepare the children for this meaningful occasion.
