St Mary's Primary School, Cabragh

P7 Leavers Assembly

23rd Jun 2022

What a memorable day the Primary 7 children had! The day was kicked off by the children watching their leavers’ video with their parents, showcasing their happy memories and experiences throughout their seven years of primary school.

The parents and children had a lovely get together and enjoyed a cup of tea and some delicious scones and tray-bakes baked by our wonderful kitchen staff!

Our P7 teacher, Mr Morrow, read a very moving poem he had written for the children about their time in St Mary’s. What a lovely memory for the children!

We were delighted to welcome along seminarians Davis and Pawal who prayed with our P7 children and gave them a special blessing as they begin a new chapter in their lives.

The children then made their way to the pitch. Every child had written their hopes for the future on an eco-friendly balloon and these were set free by the class in unison.

Awaiting the children on the playground was the entire school, holding banners and posters with well wishes and farewell messages for the P7s.  They were cheered on as they made their lap of honour around the playground. An emotional moment for the whole school community.

In the afternoon, the children were brought to the dinner hall for their surprise party. The room was an amazing sight with lots of colourful balloons, a photo wall, sweetie cart and chocolate fountain.  We would like to thank Selina Mallon for preparing the wonderful spread. A special word of thanks also to Mrs Joanne Askin for decorating the hall so beautifully with all the balloons and display boards! Selina and Joanne made sure that the hall was perfect for the children. Thank you so much!
