P1 Outdoor STEM Day

2nd Jun 2023

Primary 1 made the most of the beautiful weather this week and took part in some STEM experiments outside.

Build-a-bridge:

First, they had to work as a team to build a bridge for our class bear, Ginger Bear, using bricks and blocks to help him cross over the river.

The floor is lava:

Next, they had another building challenge called 'The floor is lava'. They had to work in small groups to help save the elephants from touching the lava. They used 4 cups and some lollipop sticks to help build a tower for the elephants.

Fizzy Paint:

At the final station, the children watched Miss Cush mix some baking soda, corn flour, water and food colouring. This mixture turned into a paint-like texture and the children painted their names and little pictures onto the playground. They then sprayed some vinegar onto their paintings and watched as the paint began to fizz up. There was lots of excitement at this station!

Puffy Paint:

Today, Primary 1 created thier own homemade puffy paint. They mixed flour, baking powder, salt and food colouring. They painted their own pictures and then placed their pictures into the microwave and watch the paint puff up. They had so much fun!
