Primary 1 Nature Walk and Autumn Hunt!

12th Oct 2022

Autumn is a wonderful time of year to really use nature to promote the development of the children and to develop lots of skills including observation and communication skills.

So, as Autumn is well underway, we went for a lovely Nature Walk around the school grounds and looked for signs of Autumn.

On our Autumn walk the children were helped to connect with nature, to observe and interact, and to develop an understanding of the world in which they live.

The children enjoyed using all their senses, making close observations, discussing the seasonal changes they could see happening around them and they also made excellent recordings on their Autumn checklists.

With the help of our magnifying glasses we managed to find and check leaves, trees, mushrooms and berries off our lists and also looked for hedgehogs, squirrels and even fairies in our Fairy Garden!

The children have really enjoyed interacting with the world around them!
