Mental Health Awareness Week 2020

18th May 2020

Today marks the start of Mental Health Awareness Week and this year, it is all about KINDNESS.

The focus on kindness is a response to the Coronavirus outbreak, which is having a big impact on people's mental health. It is important we learn from the Coronavirus pandemic to be more kind as a society.

Kindness has the power to positively impact on our physical and emotional wellbeing - whether we are giving or receiving it.

Kindness is contagious! It creates a ripple effect that can improve the day of many people.

Watch the attached video and think about how YOU can spread a little kindness.

We also want to set our boys and girls a CHALLENGE... We would like you to do something kind for a family member, friend or neighbour.

Some examples include:

  • Tell someone how much you love them.
  • Help make dinner.
  • Write a letter to someone you care about. Tell them you miss them and look forward to seeing them soon. Enclose a lovely photo or a drawing.
  • Ask, "How can I help?"
  • Find a way to help younger brothers and sisters - show them how to do something or read them a story.

Please also see the attachments below with some suggestions for random acts of kindness.

We would love to hear about your acts of kindness. Please send some photos and tell us about how you brightened up someone's day. E-Mail Mrs Quinn at
