Making decorations and writing instructions in Primary 6

17th Dec 2021

Primary 6 have had lots of fun making salt dough decorations to spruce up our dull Christmas tree.

The children each made a decoration (or two) and added them to our tree to make it unique and magical. We had so much fun doing this we thought it would be nice to write a set of instructions so the other classes in school could make salt dough decorations too if they wanted.

Next, we looked at some instructional texts to see how to write a good set of instructions. We loved reading ‘How to make a marshmallow snowman’ especially, because after we followed the set of instructions, we got to eat our creations – yum!

Have a look at the amazing instructional writing created by some of the primary 6 children on how to make a salt dough decoration. (We always pick one ‘Big Writing piece’ from each table to be displayed on the wall.) They’re so impressive!

We hope others can have as much fun as we did when they make their salt dough decorations.
