St Mary's Primary School, Cabragh

End of Year Mass

22nd Jun 2026

Today we celebrated a beautiful end-of-year Mass, and it is hard to believe how quickly the school year has passed—it feels like only yesterday we were marking the beginning of a new one.

A special well done to our P7 pupils who led the Mass so thoughtfully through prayers, readings, and reflections, and to all the other children who played a part. The celebration was made even more memorable by the wonderful choir, led by Mrs Michelle McCann and accompanied by Mrs Ciara McGinley. Our traditional group was, as always, outstanding.

During the Mass, Father Hannigan reminded us that while our school bags may be filled with books, pens, and pencils, we also carry many other important things each day. Our P1 pupils brought great courage as they began their journey in a new environment. By P2 and P3, they carried with them the friendships they had formed. In P4, there was a sense of excitement as pupils deepened their understanding of Jesus through the Sacraments. As they moved into P5 and P6, our pupils developed a strong sense of responsibility, and by P7 they proudly demonstrated the leadership skills they have nurtured throughout their time in our school.

We also took the opportunity to sincerely thank Mr Dermot Morrow for his dedicated service to our school. We wish him every success as he takes on his new role as Principal for the year, and we look forward to welcoming him back in September 2027.

Finally, I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone for the warm welcome I have received since joining the St Mary’s and Killeeshil community.
