Dear Parent/Guardian,
Today is the first day of our "Eat Them To Defeat Them" programme. EAT THEM TO DEFEAT THEM is a campaign to encourage children to eat more veg. It is award winning and proven to make eating vegetables more fun. The theme this year is "The veg are taking over the world!" This year we will celebrate the wonderful global diversity of food on our school dinner menus and we encourage our parents to celebrate this theme at home also. We hope you all have fun with it!
The programme encourages children to try new vegetables in school and at home. Sadly, 80% of our children are not eating enough vegetables. We hope to turn this around by taking part in this campaign and with the support of our parents we hope to promote veggie loving habits that the children will keep for life!
Through a partnership between Veg Power, ITV, Channel 4 and Sky, plus the support of supermarkets and schools, the Eat Them To Defeat Them campaign is bringing about real changes in children's attitudes towards vegetables.
The children have been given a take home pack with a reward chart and stickers. These will help parents to repeat, reward and normalise good vegetable eating habits.
