Catholic Schools Week: Grandparents Day

25th Jan 2023

Today we celebrated 'Grandparents Day' as part of Catholic Schools Week. The theme of Catholic Schools Week this year is “Walking Together in Faith and Love”.

Our Primary One class invited their fantastic grandparents and parents to school to take part in lots of wonderful activities.

During Catholic Schools Week we celebrate the important role played by grandparents in passing on the faith. The love of a grandparent is to be celebrated and cherished and it is so important to show our grandparents our gratitude and celebrate all that they do for us.

There was a fantastic turnout of parents and grandparents to celebrate ‘Grandparent’s Day’. It was a lovely opportunity for the children to say thank you to all their wonderful grandparents for everything they do for them.

The children enjoyed playing board games with their grandparents and also enjoyed listening to stories read to them by Granny or Granda.

The children sang two lovely songs expressing their love for their grandparents. The boys and girls performed their songs so well and spoke so confidently and  lovingly about how their grandparents care for them!

The Primary One children now plan to 'Post a Hug' to their grandparents so they can hug them whenever they want! They made super cute handprint hug cards that will definitely put a smile on granny and granda's face!

To conclude our lovely morning, everyone enjoyed some tea, scones with jam and cream and delicious traybakes! We would like to thank our parent, Mrs Ann-Marie Crudden, for baking delicious treats for everyone to enjoy. A thank you also to our fabulous kitchen staff for helping out with tea and coffee.

A special word of thanks to our wonderful P1 teacher, Miss Lauren Cush, student teacher Mr Reece Currie and Classroom Assistant Mrs Katalin Quinn for organising such a wonderful 'Grandparents Day'!

A massive well done to our Primary 1 boys and girls. You are all stars!

Thank you to all our grandparents and parents for joining us today and helping us to celebrate Catholic Schools Week. We  hope you enjoyed the celebration!
