Cabragh Cup 2025
16th Jun 2025
Today we hosted our annual Cabragh Cup Football Competition at Killeeshil GFC. The display of skill on show was high and it was a fantastic day of competitive football!
The competition had three sections.
In the final of the Quinn's Corner Plate, we had Cabragh (2) vs Aughnacloy and after a very competitive final full of goals, Cabragh came out on top captained by Paudric Nugent. Congratulations to St Mary’s Cabragh!
In the Cabragh Shield, we had St. Francis' Derrylatinee vs St. Macartan's who played off in a brilliant final. Clogher kicked on in the second half and ran out winners. Congratulations to St Macartan’s!
Lastly, the final of the Cabragh Cup between St. Mary's Cabragh (1) and St. Joseph's Galbally. These two teams have met a few times in the past and have always been competitive. Today was no different and a brilliant final ended with St. Mary's Cabragh winning the ‘Cabragh Cup in Memory of Enda Hamill’. Well done St Mary’s Cabragh!
Many thanks to our own St Mary's Killeeshil GAA for their continued support in developing Gaelic in our school as well as allowing us to use their pitches in the tournament.
Sincere thanks to the community centre for the use of the hall and their facilities. Thank you especially to Kieran Traynor who has been so helpful this year.
A special word of thanks to Mary Devlin, Helena Quinn, Eilish Russell, Teresa Hughes and Maria Nugent who organised tea, coffee and food. Your help is so much appreciated! Thank you also to Claire Holland for donating and baking the most delicious scones. These were very much enjoyed by all the staff. Thank you!
Thank you to the volunteers who set up the pitch and to our four referees who took charge of all the matches today.
Finally, thank you to all the staff from the schools, the supporters and the players for making the Cabragh Cup tournament a great success again this year!
We look forward to hosting you all again in 2026!
