Cabragh Cup 2022

14th Jun 2022

Today we hosted the Cabragh Cup at Killeeshil GFC. 12 teams took part and there was a fantastic display of Gaelic throughout.

The competition had three sections. St. Patrick's Roan beat an excellent Edendork Primary School in the final of the Quinn's Corner Cup Plate.

St. Mary's Ballygawley narrowly defeated our own St. Mary's, Cabragh in the final of the Cabragh Shield.

St. Joseph’s Galbally then ran out winners after a hotly contested final with Donaghmore. The teams needed extra time to be separated which was great for all to watch.

Today marked the first year of the Cabragh Cup in memory of Enda Hamill, which was a wonderful occasion for the entire Hamill family where Damien Hamill refereed the final.

On behalf of St. Mary’s Primary School Cabragh, we would like to thank Damien, Bridget and family for presenting St. Mary’s with the new Cabragh Cup in memory of their late son and our past pupil Enda.

To mark the occasion our past pupil Ryan Donaghy donated a set of Gaelic Gear footballs which were inscribed with "Cabragh Cup 2022 in memory of Enda Hamill." The captain of each team was presented with one of the specially inscribed footballs during today’s tournament.

Thank you to St. Mary's Killeeshil GAA for their continued support in developing gaelic in our school as well as allowing us to use their pitches for the tournament.

We also wish to extend a huge thank you to Killeeshil GFC for donating a new set of jerseys with Enda’s emblem for the Cabragh Cup 2022.

Sincere thanks to the community centre committee for the use of the hall and their facilities.

A special word of thanks to all those who helped organise food, the referees, the staff from the schools as well as every player who helped make the Cabragh Cup a great success.

We look forward to hosting you all again in 2023!
