In order to promote and support positive pupil well-being in St Mary's, our P4, P5, P6 and P7 pupils were given the opportunity to take part in a fantastic Art workshop with professional artist, Sinéad Mc Dermott.
Art activities give children a much-needed chance to express their ideas, build on their observational skills, gain confidence, promote feelings of self-worth and develop their creativity and imagination, as well as offering them time to relax.
The children’s involvement in today's creative art activities had a very positive impact on the children's self-esteem and self-confidence. The children reported a sense of enjoyment and achievement in creating their high-quality art.
The children were so engaged and enjoyed learning how to draw and paint following step by step instructions from Sinéad. We were amazed by the standard of the art work the children produced in such a short time and we were delighted to see the children thoroughly enjoying the experience and achieving a real sense of pride in their completed art work. It was amazing to watch them grow in confidence from beginning to end. They were all so proud of what they had painted!
